does warranty cover battery replacement

I have a quick question. I have iPhone xs which was purchased on Feb 19. Now the battery health is 88% and the warranty til 20th of Feb. I haven't purchased any apple care or other third party insurance etc. My concern is the battery will get its cycle count and within a year it will hit around 80% for sure.
Can i purchase apple care and extend the warranty for next one year and also can we use it for battery replacement which costs around 8k I believe. Instead of spending 8k , I would prefer 4.5k for apple care where i get device warranty as well ? Does apple work in such way to get our battery replaced ??
Now my device battery backup would be hardly 4.30 - 5 hours over Mobile data usage and 5.30 - 6 Hours through Wifi Usage . Any input Chinmay Pathak
. I appreciate your response .
Go For Apple Care
Should have 2 year warranty but you only have 30 days from the purchase date to buy Apple care
你太认真了 口罩不是更重要么
.
Try talking to Apple customer care once. From what the terms say, they will replace the battery in warranty period if their diagnosis shows it has to be replaced but most people say we can get a battery replacement if the max capacity falls below 80% in warranty period.
If not for the battery, it’s still beneficial to have AppleCare. Do check Tata cliq, few days ago they had it for INR 4200 plus additional 10% off using axis bank cards in case overall cart value is above 5000. I got one for my iphone recently. Effective price of 3780 after 10% off as I also got something else making cart value above 5000.
if you argue with Apple support them will basically do anything to make you happy
I am not suggesting to argue but to find out info about their battery replacement policy. Just to get clear if they would replace the battery when their diagnosis shows it has to be replaced or even when it falls below 80% health.
Yet another instance of terrible customer support from the s
Yet another instance of terrible customer support from the so called authorised third party service centres in India.
Dad's iPhone 6 underwent a battery change 6 months ago, it's not from Apple directly and was done in a local service centre. Basically some OEM battery.
2 weeks ago the phone suddenly used to crash frequently and gets stuck at Apple logo after booting and would boot up well only when the phone is connected to power so my dad started using the phone always connected to a power bank as he was missing many important business calls when the phone randomly shuts off and gets stuck at Apple logo.
Just 3 days after he started using the phone always connected to power bank the batter started loosing it's charging cycles and started swelling almost popping out the display.
He sent it to Apple Store along with our office employee and these so called experts didn't even bother to check the device. Right at the counter, without even getting the devices inspected, they said that the internal hardware is all damaged and we have to shell out Rs. 24500 to get a device replacement.
As I was out of country I couldn't do anything. Once I came back I headed over to the same store again and blasted them about how careless their service was even after spending a fortune on their devices. They apologised, got the device inspected and informed me that the phone is intact and all it needed was a battery replacement.
But sadly, their policy states that they have to send back the old original battery to Apple if the device battery is replaced even when I am willing to pay the full price (not the battery replacement program). Unsure about any such terms and not having the original battery with me I just walked out helpless.
Went back to local market, got a battery replacement done and the device is working perfectly well once again.
Mind you, this is an out of warranty device but purchased in India at full price 3 years ago in an Apple Store locally.
Kudos Apple, keep throwing such shit service again and again. Why not fix the service support India before trying to fly high? As if it's not enough to spend a price lot higher than in other countries we also end up getting shit like service from Apple here.
My question: is it really that difficult for Apple to lay down stringent norms and ensure service support as good as in other developed countries? Does it have no control over the authorised and third party service/sales centres in India?
That’s baby bump
But no new iPhone popped out
Call Apple they May give you a new iPhone
(If it was a authorized service provider)
Wish we had such support. It is an authorized service provider but we still have to fight it out on every small issue.
Apple's central helpline in India is directly managed by them and are a helpful bunch of people but then again, even they say we have to directly deals with the service centre at the service centre's terms when it comes to repairing devices
Raghu, i have few same type of issues both software and hardware and i just had a small chat with apple with my issues and they even called me for software issue and did a screensharing session and for hardware .. they suggested me the apple care and with concern people name and they did even contacted him that these people would come and this has to be done. My bro also went to apple care in USA but the service he had was awesome.. they put the device on the system which scans the whole phone and tells whts the issue in just 5 mins.and told you need to change the battery and it will cost 20 $
Don't expect service like others countries in India because of this 3rd Party Apple Premium Service Providers.
Even though you would have purchased the device in India -
I would rather prefer to get it repair outside if you have anyone travelling.
Since you too were travelling, you could have got battery replaced at Official Apple Store in EUR Region.
I was in Europe when this issue happened with my dad's phone. If it were an issue that happened before my travel I would have taken care of it.
We pay huge price for this phone when they are launched and we do expect great service but we need to wait till Apple Officially arrives in India. No more 3rd Party Service Providers.
I understand your frustration but here in India they are not allowed to repair devices which have gone under 3rd party repair, i read this on a job sheet provided by authorised service centre here in Ahmedabad named “Unicorn”. So basically they are helpless as they need to follow the protocol.
that's the sad state of affairs in India when it comes to Apple. The same doesn't apply in countries where Apple operates directly. In fact, even the warranty won't be void in some cases such as third party screen replacements.
Totally agreed.
Apple... Will just give u apples..
Apparently india is not a developed country and fit only for se versions.
Yet we the old faithful..shall hold only apple.
Sad.
Buy battery on Ali express and fix it yourself..
Ya it’s not that easy
I fixed mine by myself
you must change the battery
@Raghu prodduturi when apple was launched battery replacemnt program from mid dec iphone 6 and higher model for 2000₹ 29$ why u didnt try that. And for battery swollen they dont replace battery. They replace the whole unit. Due to safety concern no battery replace what they said is correct. Why inspection required when battery got swollen straight away whole unit replacement and And your phone is inelgible for service once battery. Got replaced from unauthorised
Inspection is required when u accept the quote they do internal check as per apple policy only for 3rd party display repair is eligible if you change apart from display anything its ineligible for service
If you fell battery is drain why don’t you call apple support or initiate apple chat for your clarification just like that blaming apple service centre doesn’t make sense
Thanks for the replies
. Can you please help me in finding out where the terms of warranty state that a swollen battery should be handled with a device replacement only and not a battery replacement? I am unable to find such information.
Its company policy how it will be Available in web. ... its internal policy.. between apple and technician (engineer) Will u reveal all your company. Policy. Outside
if it pertains to the device owned by a customer and warranty availed for the device then yes, it should be made public. If not, how will the customer know what kind of support he can avail for investing on such expensive devices? So any company can give random reasons and just escape saying it's a company internal policy?
I have all answers for you dont worry. Here engineer or front office who attend you. U i don’t know may be they are. in beginner level
Still waiting for your answer in the other comment.
By the way, what do you mean someone from front office attended? What's his purpose in general?
If you. Would have my customer my answer will this only
Thats why said everyone have there process here u giving suggestion in your point you think you are in that place Now tell
The customer service sucks
is AppleCare+ really necessary?
is AppleCare+ really necessary?
YES YES YES! 1000% YES. I absolutely DESTROYED the screen on my 12 Pro Max, without AppleCare+ it would’ve been $329 for a new screen. Since I had it on my phone, I got a new screen replaced by Apple for $29. Totally worth it! Personally, I pay for it monthly, but they also have a 3 year plan available.
Like I said, DESTROYED.
I mean, you spend that much money on a device that holds all your confidential information, basically your whole life. Isn’t the extra money worth it to keep it functioning?
Apple care won’t recover your data, it’s a hardware insurance. Rely on iCloud for that
well yea, I know that. I’ve heard of people keeping the same iPhone for 6 years and not backing it up once. I don’t understand some people.
Yep, it’s crazy
Yes. I know someone that had his iPhone 12 Pro Max for a little over a year and had it in an otter box case and still managed to break his back camera lens that went down the back of the phone. He’s out of warranty so will have to fork out basically the cost of a new phone to fix it. Better safe than sorry
The answer to this is "it depends". ie, for people that use a good protective case and generally don't drop their phone that often I'd say no. If your someone who uses their phone without a case or are constantly dropping the phone then yes, it's probably worth it.
For me, I use a good case and screen protector, don't drop the phone often, the new gorilla glass on the iPhones is very strong and they are waterproof, so Apple Care+ doesn't make any sense for me and I've never used it. It's just an unnecessary expense IMO and the standard warranty is enough.
I never drop my phone… and I really take good care of it…
So one time I put it to charge 2 hours later the screen just would turn on and phone was cold… long story short I got a replacement for nothing extra in 2 days… brand new phone… now i asked how much would have cost me without apple care + and that was around 60% the cost of the phone… btw that one I was considering no apple care I’m glad I bought it
Absolutely! It saved me over $1000.00 one time when they replaced a phone for me and ~$150 two other times. I don’t remember what the problem was those two times. Best purchase I have made for any electronic device, ever.
I also recommend getting a highly rated military grade case. Opinions vary on which are the best. I’ve had the best Otter, LifeProof, ZeroLemon, and UBPro. ZeroLemon has a model with a 10,000 mAh battery included.
otter box rules
Never get apple care the normal service was enough it’s a scam, swap my iPhone less than 11month each …
I only get AppleCare plus for my MacBooks I don’t for my iPhone I don’t lose it and I certainly don’t break it
Yes have you ever cracked a phone screen? Dropped your phone in the toilet or jumped into a pool with it in your pocket? If so get it. If you have never damaged a phone accidentally, I have only had 4 phones and I'm 40 I take care of them but accidents do happen. You just have to decide how clumsy you are lol. Good luck.
I’ve had my iPhone 12 for exactly a year now and it still runs just as fast as it did out of the box. Zero scratches or screen damage. Just take care of it
The more important thing is your Apple ID suggestions message you should probably resolve that because that affects you in real time.
It's worth $4 a month. Even if you keep your phone in immaculate condition in an otterbox and never drop it you are *going* to need a new battery down the road, or maybe even several if you cycle it a lot.
new battery is $30 at apple…and last time I checked, it’s $249 CDN per year for apple care
If you can keep your phone extremely safe then it’s not but if you can’t, then you need it
Guy I need your advice..I want to purchase 2nd hand iPhone 7,and it's battery
health is 90% .what else do I need to know before I go to a deal ?help
honestly I’d go for something newer that’ll be supported longer. Even an iPhone XR will be great and they are not that expensive
Nope, if you take care of your phone is not necessary.
I haven't break any device through my years
Yes absolutely worth It
Buy a life proof or otter box case instead.
Why not both?
Great cases but neither will cover hardware failures after the warranty expires.
good point.
This is a key reason I always get it. It saves so much money. My brother had to replace a screen when someone put something heavy on his phone by accident. He was only charged $29.00.
Yes absolutely, if you are going to pay a lot of money on a phone, then Apple Care + is a must. The excess fee here in UK is £25 and that wasn’t much for a screen replacement. Without Apple Care the screen replacement would be probably better $300-$400 at least!
It has come in handy for me on several occasions.
I would add it just in case tbh
Yes! Helps you get it replaced easier
We dumped it. $15 per month for 24 months.... Do the math. $330
It’s €11,95for me, or €229 one-time payment, I thought to activate the monthly subscription but idk yet.
$15 is nothing even 330 is nothing now a days
Yes
I was just callin to make sure if I need it
No…………….
Oh que oui
No but it’s extremely convenient. And it’s a very nice peace of mind to have
Thanks to Apple Care I’ve got display and battery replacement for free, so I think it’s worth it.
was the display issue something to do with accidental physical damage or hardware issue?
, display was hardware issue, battery was degraded, but Apple Care include accidental damage.
I am afraid in the country where I reside even iPhone under warranty does not cover accidental damage.
, if you have official Apple store or resellers, than you can use Apple Care which is included with every Apple device.
Yes it is
I would say yes
Guys. Purchased iPhone 11 pro max on 29th September, current
Guys. Purchased iPhone 11 pro max on 29th September, currently on ios 13.2.2 Its been 3 months now. My battery health has already degraded to 95% 3 weeks back I checked it was at 97% and 7-8 days back it was at 96% and today it is 95%. The rate at which it is degrading is making me worry that within 2-3 months more it might just fall to 80%. I dont use my iphone aggressively, mainly for whatsapp, insta, fb and browsing. No games nothing. And yes apple music. Also I charge my phone only once a day in the morning. Please help what to do. Chinmay
Hello. I know this is an old post, but if you still have this phone please do the latest update 14.5.1. It fixes and issue with the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max with battery accuracy. The new update recalibrates the battery. It could take up to 1-5 weeks but it works. Mine went from 98% to 100% capacity.
since this post my battery health has gone to 82%
the same phone?
Charge it around 25%-90% thats all
Yes thats what i do. Morning when i charge my battery is around 22-24% and i charge it up to 92-94%
same issue with me mine says 98%
Every day charge tow time . please never again and again charge . it’s 500 hundred charge caracole. after Every 500 hundred crackle finish battery health degraded.
But I am charging just once a day, when i leave home my battery is around 92%, and by the night around 11pm it is 27-30%, and in the morning again i keep it for charge. It has never been more than once a day
11 pro max battery worst day by day drain battery very quickly
Battery health feature is still not accurate and fluctuates . Many group members including me have noticed increase or decrease in battery health after updating their devices . So it could be a software glitch and don’t bother too much about it . What is the screen on time you are getting per charge ? If you are still not satisfied you can go to a service center and tell them to run a battery diagnostic test . If there is some manufacturing defect Apple will replace the battery for free since the phone is under warranty but if they don’t find any issue then they wont replace and consider it a software glitch
Screen on time is 5 h 25 min, screen off 24 mins, last charge level 96% 2 hours ago. Also for last 10 days screen on time is 5 hr 40 mins on an avearge
whaat? Xs max screen on 6:30-8h, battery health 100% , 10 months.
The battery health of my iPhone 8 Plus is at 85% as long as it turns on and works as expected I could care less about that number. It’s just another metric to me that serves no real purpose in RL.
This is the second post on battery health from an iPhone user from India. Do you think this issue is specific to India?
My 11 Pro Max bought on the launch day is down to 96%. Nothing to worry.
Not original California
I’ve had mine since the launch and this is mine
I also have a one issue when ever i go to the battery section screen off time always show 0 minutes idk why
How do you charge it? Fast charging, wirelessly or with the old 5V charger?
with the charger that came in the box
so maybe that’s why. Any fast charger degrades the battery faster. The more powerful charger, the faster degradation. I know that this charger came in the box, but it is a really fast one. I think that using the old small one would prolong the battery quality. I would double check it, though, maybe the battery is simply faulty.
I am also facing the exact same issue on my iphone11 pro... After 3 months battery health 95%... I went to the service centre, they checked my device with their diagnostic tool and said that the battery is absolutely fine so they can’t do anything about it. But this is a serious issue and Apple should acknowledge it and do something about it.
this is really sad, if apple claims this battery health is not accurate they should simply just remove this feature. Its depressing to see health degrading so soon for such an expensive phone
exactly my point buying such expensive devices we expect good things from it. You let me know what solution apple gives you.
Take it back and get a new one
like they will
some1 in the group went to the service center with this same issue they told him the battery is fine
Wait till nearly the end of the warranty and take it back then it will be low and they will replace it
Chinmay since saturday when i created this post, battery health was 95% and now its 94% in 4 days 1 more % gone. What is happening
Chinmay

Omg
Yesterday it dropped to 98%. Today it’s 97%. WTF is going on
Yesterday it dropped to 98%. Today it’s 97%. WTF is going on here!?
I’ve been with Apple for 12 years and never seen anything like this!
You’ve never seen anything like this in 12 years because the battery health feature is only a few years old
Put it in rice
The reason you have never seen anything like this in the past 12 years is because that stat wasn’t available to you until 2018. It was always happening you just weren’t aware of it
Delete battery health

Not sure how to tell you this but one day in the future might not be tomorrow or next week or even a month from now it will be 96%. And it will
Blow your mind!!!
LMAO!!!
Ive had my 12 mini for 12 months--I'm at 95%..which I think is great. Iphone battery life is the same as it was in 2007....the phone is just more powerful. If you want a phone with a great battery life..Android. 2 day batteries and one phone charges in 10 minutes. Iphone isn't great.....we just keep buying them!
super agree battery
life on iPhone isn’t good at all Apple sell us dis expensive phone we buy and they come out wit a new phone so they break down da old phone we have so we can buy da new one
, My iPhone 13 Pro Max charges fully in 20 minutes when it gets down to less than 20%. I have nothing to change complain about. That is super fast. It’s still 100% (I’ve only had it a month) but 20 minutes is nothing to complain about! (Oh, and the 80% I’m using lasts 12-15 hours)
The iPhone 13 Pro Max is said to fully charge from 0 to 100 percent in less than 90 minutes. ... Chinese Tipster Duan Rui also tested it out and makes the same claims, adding that it takes about 86 minutes to fully charge with a charger that uses 30W.
In a day?
why is that? im a hardcore user who got no mercy on battery health
no charging schedules yet i got 1% drop in 5 months
you should take it to store for service
agreed.
no. That would be a waste of time. What’s the actual issue? Is the phone powering off randomly? During use?
This is not a real issue
New update sorts out the battery algorithm for iPhone 12’s
My iPhone 8 is 4 years old and running strong with zero issues... Battery Health 66%
It's the end of the world
It’s for this reason I’m going back home, Android.
I’ve given up. Checked my 12 by accident earlier today. At 5 months, I’m at 91% even though I use my iPad for all the heavy duty stuff. Whenever it reaches 80%, I’ll get the battery changed. I usually change phones every 4 - 5 years.
my 12 is at 99 after 7 months
Apple should really stop showing battery health. Instead, just show battery status like good, average and need replacement
I am very concerned about my iPhone 12 mini despite I bought in December that the battery capability was 100% till end of June 2021 that I alway kept it above 30% all the time. From after June there I have 6% degrade from 100% to 94%, but from august it’s was 97%. This month it’s went down from 97% 95% and 94% and why is this it doing that? I charge my iPhone every 2 days to keep the battery health in peak condition as I think it’s not staying long to what it’s should be I wondered if my iPhone battery capability could reach around 88% by December or reach 80%? My iPhone is still under warranty til December 22nd 2021. & should I take AppleCare out to further protect it for battery replacement etc?
This percentage is an estimate that Apple makes. A possible prediction. That, of course, means nothing at all. Just keep in mind that you have to replace a battery once every 2 to 3 years. New batteries are not that expensive. Luckely, you can easily replace the battery of your iPhone yourself.......
I mean, if yesterday was the first time you’ve checked it, it may have been at 98% for a couple of months, and then today just changed
mine is now at 92% (I've got my 12 since January)... what do you guys think? I wirelessly charge every night, no matter what the batt percentage is... I always place it on the qi-charger before I go to bed
Actually that is pretty good for battery health any lower below 50 it be time for a new battery
I have iPhone SE with like 73% and it's impossible to use it without power bank. It literally dies in a half of an hour if I use it. I think it's better to change battery or iPhone when battery health drops to 80%
Apple needs to take off the battery health percentage it causes too much anxiety for people!!!
I had the 12 pro max all year until the 13 Pro Max came out, was at 100% for 7 months, then within a 7 day period it dropped 6% & then another 3% the following week.
Make sure to maintain battery charge not below 20 ‘/, and not above 80’/, which makes standard battery’s health
Same here I just notice it on new ios 15.1 update battery drop so fast.
Perhaps a solar back to improve battery life
try Samsung Galaxy Note 7 , "best" battery life ever
if we are going back that far iPhone 6 Bendgate
nah. you can’t beat Nokia 3310 for battery life
same thing happened to me 4 months ago, just use your phone dont check your battery life
Always update your iPhone using iTunes …
sai kha
My iPhone 12 is at 92% am actually disappointed
Im at 87% and still works normal, no problems. Dunno why I'd care about the bat health anyway since I cant replace it myself.
Whenever we check battery capacity it gets low avoid checking it and enjoy the
Battery health was the worst thing apple done
Are you leaving your iPhone plugged in to power all day?
Mines at 87 does that mean I gotta replace the battery
your battery is getting bad, you need to get it replaced.
Idk, lots of people complained their battery health declined (or perhaps the info wasn’t calculated the same anymore) but personally I waited for 15.1 before upgrading and never noticed any drops, still at 100% after 12 months of ownership
Ur battery needs changing
Ikr. Mines at 87. But it is weird because it still lasts the whole day. Gimmick.
Why i check battery health not found in my phone?
better buy huawei then, sir
stupid advice
stupid questions call for stupid advice.
mine is now at 92% (I've got my 12 since January)... what do you guys think? I wirelessly charge every night, no matter what the batt percentage is... I always place it on the qi-charger before I go to bed
5G kills the battery use 3G
Replace the battery
One thing you need to understand is new updates alway destroy s battery life...
I have the same problem with my iPhone 11 Pro Max
How are you charging your phone? Do you leave it plugged in overnight?
In 1 month it would be 69%
Who cares? Phone still works the same.
Get an android phone
Just go on with your life. Forget about this battery thing. It has mind of its own.
They need you back soon for batteries and screens.
My 11 pro max has 90% battery health
Mine i bought in may11 now97%
This is why apple didn't wanna show y'all this stuff
What iphone?
Mine is 93 % I have 12 pro max had it since March
Mine is at 84 or so , (XS) so shut Up fam
AppleCare+ is different from AppleCare. In India we only get AppleCare which can be activated anytime before the warranty expires. AppleCare+ has additional replacement policy for accidental damages as well whereas AppleCare does not have it. For AppleCare+ it has to be activated within 30 days from date of purchase.
