What is the best Linux distribution for programming for my laptop?
I am a beginner in linux
So.... to be clear you think ) is garbage? Why don't you show us on the stuffed animal where Debian hurt you? Did you apt-get your feelings hurt somewhere along your journey?
Gentoo, if you really love Linux, or if you want things comfy, Debian or LMDE. Manjaro with KDE is also great, I have a T61p running LMDE4 with XFCE personally.
No. I installed it once on a toshiba then moved it to a t60. it does what you want, in fact, it reminds me of Windows NT4. Yes, MS and all but... you can do what you want of it. and if you know what you do, it stays.
pacman is nice.
otherwise, linuxmint. people me includeed were parano with systemd to manage all, but it's not botnet, on this, gentoo is more simple. but you don't normally touch that part.
ubuntu mate, xubuntu, lubuntu, debian with mate/xfce/lxde
replace hdd with ssd, it will speed up it a lot
In my opinion, Linux Mint is the right choice. I use the Cinnamon interface because I like it best, but faster and for older devices I also use Xfce or for younger devices the Debian version. In any case, I recommend using TLP.
