How do you like it ?

I like the Z13 a lot. Previously I had a T480, T440p, T430s, T60, and T20. the Z13 is my favorite since the T60.

No dumb throttling issues. It uses very little power, which I never really cared much about but I really can truly *use* and *rely* on this machine on battery with little compromise. Extending power all day/night no longer takes the boat battery I used to haul around. Just a little Anker USB-C battery is plenty.

The screen is finally bright and clear enough that I can use it outdoors most of the time. A little brighter would have been better, but this is above and beyond any other ThinkPad I've owned.

I've always preferred non-scaling resolutions, but given the smaller screen size and that my eyes aren't getting any younger, 150% seems about right. Fortunately this has been commonplace enough for so many years now, that most software works correctly.

The keyboard is fine to type on. I don't really feel impeded there.

The TrackPoint is the biggest problem. I have large hands... I wish the TrackPoint nub was further up the keyboard out of the home row, maybe up by T, Y, and U. There are no real buttons for it which is a huge bummer. However, it's *way* more workable than the T440p's original TrackPoint clunky monstrosity. This one says it's "haptic"... so maybe it's not even pushing down to click, but it feels okay. Biggest problem is that it just is rough on the carpal tunnel. I take an external mouse with me now. Not something I ever bothered with on previous ThinkPads.

The lack of ports is a problem. Fortunately these days this doesn't mean lack of capability. No issues plugging anything wild in. I'm really impressed. I haven't seriously considered AMD in many years... this thing is great though. All the problems I had with Intel's USB and Thunderbolt... non-existent on this platform.

If it had an HDMI output, and TrackPoint buttons, it'd be a perfect machine in my opinion.

I remember I made a post here when it was hoi g to be released but actually never looked I to it again
Glad you like it !

oh, tks for your so detail review and very nice machine.

I have other questions. Why you are camping and coding (work).

I prefer go camping with girlfriend.

J4F….

I much prefer to be outside than inside. I think better out here... a lot more creativity and clarity. And, when I get stuck on a problem I can just go for a walk down a trail... by the time I get back, it's solved. It's a lot nicer than going down an office corridor to a water cooler. 😉

Some folks think this is some sort of blasphemy, that I'm damaging my outdoor time, but I disagree! I'm enjoying it. Not unlike someone who goes outside to paint or write.

Agreed with you and I am J4F as above....

he had to choose between having a girlfriend or a new team and well there to see them coding!!!!

Yes. That's why we love nature.

new z series...fake Thinkpads... might as well get a dell xps... belch.

No TrackPoint on the Dell.

I get your point, but when your T480 dies right before you need to go a on a trip and the Z13 was the only thing reasonable that could be shipped overnight, you do what you've gotta do. And when the machine turns out to actually be pretty decent, you tell the crew about it. >;-)

I believe you, and if I didn't just grab a Yoga X1 Gen4 for $400 a couple months ago, I'd probably be considering a Z series. I have a hard time letting go of my Yoga L390, a machine I swore was a piece of crap until I fell in love with the keyboard and used it everyday for almost 3 years.
