If the price is too good to be true don't buy it.

it's already a red flag if it's too cheap

If I need an external drive, I build it from an NVMe and 3rd party enclosure. I also have a few SSD 2.5 and UGreen enclosures, which I put together myself. It's really easy.

I ran my ThinkPad x100e for a few years with a microSD to sata adapter and it worked just fine. Then, I upgraded to a true ssd.

Just buy a good brand SSD like Samsung or Intel from a trusted vendor ie PC Currys, ebuyer etc
