Thinkpad: I just thought it looked classy where I set it down, so I took a picture.

Is that the Fold? How is it?

With Windows 11, I haven't ran into any issues yet, but I also just started using this full-time yesterday. the keyboard is not intuitive to what I'm used to. apostrophes are where my enter key is, so sometimes I'll prematurely send a message when I meant to use one. Minus the keyboard issues, this is chugging along quite nicely. I was quite surprised to see that 4k 60 fps video on YouTube ran without any hiccups!

Time will tell if I decide that this is enough instead of upgrading to Gen 2, but I have to admit, the new features of the next generation fold such as the better keyboard with included trackpoint and stereo speakers for any orientation has me very interested.

awesome, thanks for the details. I’m usually pretty conservative about innovative new hardware and take a “wait and see” approach but the X1 Fold piqued my interest as soon as I saw it and I’ve been watching it closely.

It makes perfect sense that the first folding tablet on the market and the first one to get it right would be a ThinkPad. Yours has the new 12th Gen Intel L CPU right? That’s encouraging to hear it handled the 4K video so well.

It does look like they made some big changes for Gen 2 in making it bigger and stuff. I can see why they did that but the pocketable nature of the gen 1 is a big part of the appeal for me.

I think it would be amazing to have a 9-10” ThinkPad Yoga too, something like what GPD and OneNetbook have been making, but with ThinkPad quality and Lenovo support. But I know all of this stuff is mostly niche market.

yes it’s always tricky when you shrink a keyboard down beyond a certain size. Those tiny 8-9” netbooks have to make similar compromises with keyboard layout. It’s the only way to have the keys you use most often be a sufficient size I guess. But I can see how it could jam you up if you’re typing a lot. I write for a living too so that would probably be a non-starter for me.

i think it cost me $16.99? That was at a discount when I bought a tablet though.
