Thinkpad: Looks like previous owner loves smoking a lot, and clean up required.
X260 has been delivered. Looks like previous owner loves smoking a lot, and clean up required.
Other plans: Upgrade SSD, RAM and screen and NO LINUX.
I’m not laughing about Linux, I like Linux. I’m laughing because OP obviously didn’t want to be evangelized about Linux and here you are. 🤣
agreed and I happen to really enjoy Linux. I might use it as my full time OS on my main computer if I didn’t need name brand, quality commercial software like the Adobe CS among other things and if I didn’t have Nvidia hardware that isn’t well supported (Nvidias fault).
It isn’t for everyone, though it gets closer every year. I’ve used it on secondary computers a lot. I ran Kubuntu on my T510 for 2 years and it was all I used. It IS superior to Windows in many ways. But there are still a things which make it an impractical choice for a lot of people.
The clone apps and knockoffs like GIMP and OpenOffice are not of sufficient quality, capability and compatibility for everyone and not everyone wants to deal with WINE or VM’s just to run an app. I will say this, I have no loyalty towards Windows. If Linux gets the Adobe CS and a few other commercial grade apps, the power management and thermals for laptops gets parity with Mac OS and Windows and that Nvidia dGPU mess is sorted so I can have GOOD support for my Nvidia hardware and good support for varying DPI’s and reliability spanning and scaling between my P17’s 4K screen and my 43” 4K external monitor, then there is a 95% chance I would move to Linux.
Windows gets on my nerves sometimes and my experience with Linux is that it’s more dependable. I also like the desktop environment options a lot better than the Windows 11 shell.
But for now, it’s not gonna work for me and I find Linux evangelists and gatekeepers tiring and predictable. We get it, you’re special, your OS is special. We see you and acknowledge your specialness. Now go away. 😂
it has terrible color reproduction and gamut (6-bit and 262k colors with 50% srgb) but at least the brightness is great.
Check the LP125WF3-SPB1 or LP125WF2-SPB4. They are a bit dimmer but have much better color reproduction as far as 12.5inch ips panels go.
Also B125HAN03.1 has 8-bit color, 400nit brightness and nice contrast ratio. The control board seems to be wider and it could require brakcets, but it is a great panel. It will achieve similar results to the "regarded as best yet" innolux 14" lowpower 400nit display
