Thinkpad T410: I am not very computer savvy so which hard drive(s) will work with this

I just bought a used Lenovo t410 and am in the process of getting it up and running. The hard drive has been removed so I need to buy one. I am not very computer savvy so which hard drive(s) will work with this laptop? Also, I bought a charging cord and have it plugged in. There is a yellow light blinking on the top of the laptop which I assume means that the battery is being charged, but I'm not sure. Will this light change to green when the battery is charged? I have downloaded the user manual, but it doesn't give any information about charging the battery. Is there another manual which would be more helpful?
Any useful comments are welcome.
Thank you

When the battery is fully charged the yellow light will go off even when the power cord is still plugged in

Of the battery light blinks fast orange the battery is dead.

To replace the drive get a 2.5" SSD - best you can do.

Got the battery charged last night. The light was solid green this morning. Tried to power up the laptop but nothing happened. Is this because there isn't a hard drive?

there should be a Bootscreen and via F1 you should enter Bios

Nothing happens. I assumed the light on the power button would light up, but it doesn't. The screen is blank.

Hmm ok. Remove ac and battery press power button for 10 seconds and try again

Alright.

Unplugged the ac, removed the battery, pressed the power button for 10 seconds, put the battery back in and plugged in the ac but it still doesn't turn on. No change. The green light is blinking green now. Hopefully it isn't a brick at this point.

I decided to add some photos. Don't know if they help, but maybe.
