Thinkpad T430: I was able to get the hdd from an old laptop, get it into a caddy, swap

I was able to get the hdd from an old laptop, get it into a caddy, swap it with the dvd drive, and now I've got fedora 36 on my "new" T430.

I had to get parts from the old dvd drive ( the plastic lock slot on the side) and screw them onto the caddy. Otherwise, only friction would be holding the caddy, and by extension, the hard disk, in place.

Buy the Caddy for HDD for T430. Done.

I got the Nimitz one for my T440p

I've seen pictures of the Nimitz caddy, and they do look much better, and seem to be better built, than the cheap one ( USD 1.75) I bought. Unfortunately, they're hard to find here.

I do agree with you on that it is hard to find them on your local store, I got mine from Amazon, here is the one compatible with the T430:
