Hi, I'm studying computer science and I need a laptop for programming.

I will buy old Lenovo Thinkpad T470 tomorrow for 280$. Do you think it's the right choice for programming?
And what things should I check while buying this old laptop? I don't have any experience!

Lenovo Thinkpad T470
Core i7 6th gen 6500U
8gb DDR4 Ram
256Gb m.2 SSD

I would try to go for a T480 with 8th gen CPU, as it is quad core, and the difference in performance is huge

If you're in the US - I have a T480 with similar specs that I would be able to sell under the posted price.

Beware even the i7 is 2 cores, 4 threads. T480/s, even the i5 is 4 cores, 8 threads. It may not make much of a difference when starting to program but it sure will as soon as you deal with threading >:)

If that is US dollars then that’s not a good deal. You can get a t480 for probably less than that on eBay and it will have a quad core cpu. T470 is cool but it’s a dual core soldered cpu. Not going to hold up for anything more than causal use

T70? or T470?

sorry T470

Don't forget to update the firmware so your motherboard won't fry due to the thunderbolt issue

If you mean T470, it’s not that old and it will work just fine for your need -
