Just bought a T480 from Marketplace. Any idea what’s up with the screen? Look closely. There’s some weird banding.

Just pressure marks on the LCD, needs a replacement panel

damnit. Would this be sufficient “damage” to request a return?

not really no, it is to be expected through a machines life, usually putting it in a laptop case with the power supply is sufficient to do this over a period of time

ok good to know.

Thats the backlight diffusion being disrupted by pressure or liquid, not too bad per se but since u can see it id swap the panel, is easily done on those things.

Looks like the BIOS diagnostics running or something like that.

no I ran those colors purposely. Look carefully there’s some strange banding.

I didn't notice the anomalies. But the white screen shows them best. I've seen this on countless laptops and as says, these are pressure marks. Or just daily wear and tear. Is your LCD in such a bad shape during normal operation that this bothers you?

it's in self test diagnostic mode or something like that. i've seen this issue in another group or subreddit answered so do check... i believe you can make it running again by restarting your pc in a specific way.

its not the colors specifically but the uneven backlight that was made visible this way

How to test the display like this?

google a color test website and press f11 to make it fullscreen

open mspaint, paintbucket a picture the size of your scriin and hit ctrl-f

thank you

how did I even type "scriin" ...I may have been drunk.
