Imho thats a very smart lap top lol. I hate win 10/11 trogens

haha but i need windows

me too I use win XP sp3 32 bit on some and Win 7 64 bit on others for PC apps etc that req windows

Win 10/11 dont even recognize more than half our TP factory features and wont allow use of them yet wastes over 10gb hard drive space etc

Linux can be installed about to anything.

Try changing sata mode to ahci or compatible in bios.

Unplug the power and battery, pull CMOS battery out, hold power button down, put it all back, try again

So often you need to check the bios/uefi settings for boot. If it’s set to uefi only try changing it to legacy mode and that might work.

Also, if you have multiple drives in the t480 remove or disable the non boot drive first so there is no issue where it puts the os on one drive but the boot loader on another

my uefi settings is greyed out i can't change to legacy mode

hmmm….that might be your problem then. I remember having an issue where I couldn’t install windows until it was set to legacy mode

it works now the legacy mode but still the same issue
