Thinkpad Tablet: But I definitely wouldn’t want to do it again
X230 for my daughter. The x230t died so I ordered an x230 as replacement. $45 with tax and shipping. I already had charger and ssd, it has 8gb ram and the battery is terrible but I have ordered a new one.
This thing is soooo light. The x230t is heavy compared to this.
Swapped the ips panel from the tablet into this and it’s great. I just wish it had front facing speakers.
Screen swap wasn’t hard. But I definitely wouldn’t want to do it again
lol you are not getting me. I love the x230 but the trackpad design sucks. Too small, unresponsive and difficult to use
thanks. For less than $50 with tax and shipping it’s hard to pass up. Yeah a batter will cost another 50 but to have a thinkpad x230 with ips, ssd and new battery, I mean….I love these older thinkpads.
so if you use the IPS panel from the x230t / x220t and put it on the x230 / x220 no need for nicrocaster mod?
yeah. Literally just pulled it from the x230tablet, removed the digitizer, put it in the x230 and it was absolutely fine. Works like a charm
No need it's the same size screen and the same connection. The only difference is that it's ipS rather than the other technology. My x220 inherited an x220t screen and I have since swapped the motherboard and it's using the same screen.
Wait u can use the ips screen of the x230t in a standard x230? Can u do the same with the x220t panel? I have one here that has a shattered digitizer but should work otherwise
yeah. You need to remove the digitizer and then it’s literally just a standard ips panel. Really great.
Update: yes you can, although you need to be careful when removing the panel from the bezel and touch/wacom assemblies. I did not and killed it unfortunately. Ill likely just leave it in tho bc the damage is minor and the ips screen is such a nice upgrade otherwise...
same, i was an idiot tho and bent it too much in that corner to get an entry point into the glue seal. The damage is bearable tho and the pros overweigh the cons so i put it in in the end
keyboards can run anywhere from $25-$45 depending on what you want. A backlit keyboard runs closer to $40.
Which screen you swapped? I'm interested because I have a t470 and screen is not as good as I would like to, I read "tablet" screen what did you mean? Thx in advance
I used the screen from the x230t. For T470 it should be easy as it can support a 1080p screen natively
