Thinkpad X220: I bought another X220 for a friend that cost me approx $100.
I bought another X220 for a friend that cost me approx $100.
i5-2450M, 8GB RAM, 500GB HDD, no SSD. Now working on hardware testing with Hikari PE V9.0 (Preview 4).
I got an x230 recently, and am torn about the keyboard swap mod - even the thinkpad chiclet keyboards are better than most. What do you think of the x220 keyboard?
I really don't think modern 6 row keyboards are worthless comparing from 7 row classic keyboards, as my current daily driver is T495.
I've got a T61p that I still use for word processing, and I think that is about the best keyboard I've ever used on a laptop. BUT... The x230 is pretty good for a chiclet board, and has a backlight.
I decided to stick with the 6-row keyboard on my x230. The keys have a good feel and the X230 does not have a thinklight, so the backlight on the 6-row keyboard is handy and nice to look at if you ever work in low-light environments.
On the other hand the button placement is less convenient on the chiclet keyboard, It is much more difficult to use the function, home, end and insert keys by feel and I often hit the wrong key. On the 7-row keyboard they are all organised in groups of four so if you memorise their relative positions it's much easier to locate them by feel.
Overall I would say the 7-row keyboard is superior if you're a heavy user and can make do without a backlight, but I can't justify the effort to make the swap.
oh, what a surprise! Lol. I just knew about Hikari (rather, you) because of your video about the tool for upgrading Lumias to Windows 10 Mobile. That helped me a lot. Now, I am enjoying using my Lumias better.
here they are by the way, running Windows 10 Mobile for 2 years now. Nokia Lumia 1020, 920, 535 and Acer Jade Primo. Thanks a bunch.
yeah, but since there are some devs who continued adding support for this, I might as well continue using it until they declare it obsolete.
I have an old Lumia 1020 lying around somewhere. I may have to look into upgrading the OS. Sounds like a good project 🙂👍
you should try it so that you can add a new lease of life to this device. It's a Nokia Lumia 1020 by the way, with the Nokia Imaging apps intact and working. Running Windows 10 Mobile build 1511 using Hikari Calyx tool.
thanks for the info - will definitely be giving this a go.
Hopefully the battery still holds a charge - it hasn't been used for a good few years! 😬🥴
, compré mi x230 en eBay el año pasado y la importé a El Salvador con una persona que hace encomiendas; antes de eso, traje una t430 por medio de Aerocasillas; creo que ellos tmb tienen servicio en MX.
