Total disassembly just to change the damn thermal paste on this x230. But…it needed it. There was a bunch of dried paste on the side of the die and almost none left on the die itself.

Also, I always end up with extra screws when it has been reassembled. Today I think I only had one or two extra.

Does this happen to anyone else?

Haha same for me when I disassemble x220, there onwards I take photos along the way, so I can check if I'm missing any sctews

I was taking pictures during disassembling process. No leftover screws. Changed the thermopaste on x230 and x220t

On my x230 i had no screws left. I was proud of myself ^^

That is impressive. I think I only had 1 or 2 left over this time

well i did maintenance on like 15 thinkpads and even more other laptops, after a while u dont forget screws anymore lol

Just watch Hardware maintenance manuals on PDF or there are disassemble videos on YouTube.

No. In the beginning, I would take pictures to remind me of which screws go where. Now, I can take one apart and put it back together from memory.
