Hello everyone. I want to buy a thinkpad and i have come to the conclusion of x250 with i7 5500u. 8 gb ram and 256 ssd. My question is, based on your experience is it going to work efectively on long term and heavy work like coding and editing..? It is refurbished also and the seller gjves me a year of garranty.

For coding it will be fine, but for compiling and editing I would recommend something more powerful. Personally I don't regard laptops that have dual cores as anything more than internet machines and for "serial" or "sequential" workflows (as in not capable ofmultitasking). That's why all my ThinkPads are quad cores and for my daily machine I use a thick 17 inch HP behemoth of a workstation.

guessing a ZBook, what model?

zbook 17 g1 fully loaded, about to go get my new GPU for it

i am thinking of going to something like this

good choice. This is leagues better than any x250

my problem is ram.... though 8 gb for editing coding is poor.

I've got a Dell M6800, that thing's just the dream. Upgraded to a Quadro M4000M and it's super fast

Kostas Foskolakis see if you can upgrade it later, otherwise I'd look elsewhere for a laptop

I also just maxxed out my zbook with a m4000m 32gbs of ram and a mq4900

They are awesome, but if it's for coding and editing, maybe the display is a bit on the small side? Naturally if you get a dock and a monitor or just a monitor for it thats no issue.

Go with higher specs such as P50, P51 as they as workstation.
Unless, try with T480 or X280.

t480 are generally rear and sell off. in my country i cant not even find refurbished with i5
