Α used P51 or P52 if you are lucky...

whats better p51 or p52? What specs should i look for?

P52 is marginally newer. Seek for an i7 or xeon CPU, with a quadro 2000 series graphics, 16GB of ram and 512GB ssd. Ram and SSD are upgradable to the P51 and P52 units, so you don't need to pay the premium to a reseller. I would also consider the 4K screen, due to better color ranges and calibration.

Like everyone has said so far, P5x or P7x series. But it depends on where you live, and what prices these laptops sit at in your local market.

(The newer the better if your budget allows, P52 and P72 have newer CPUs with up to 6 cores and 12 threads, P53 and P73 can instead go up to 8 cores and 16 threads, all of them have roughly the same upgrade potential, save for P7x which is of a bigger size, can accommodate slightly more storage, and has upgradeable MXM graphics).

Alternatively, and I know this is blasphemy in a ThinkPad group, you can also try looking for Dell Precision 75xx laptops (P5x equivalent) and 77xx laptops (P7x equivalent), with the 7520 matching the P51, 7740 matching the P73, etc.

Both 75xx and 77xx series have upgradeable graphics (MXM-a and MXM-b respectively) and also the same overall upgradeability as Lenovo's equivalent offerings, ontop of being similarly well built.

The 15" P5x or 17" P7x series all get my vote. You should be able to find a very decent unit for $1000 and the size is your preference.

If you like something light and portable, look up the P5xs series or even the rare but very lovely P40 Yoga.

I used to have the P40 Yoga 3 uears ago. Unfortunately its CPU was very weak to be considered as a Workstation. Battery runtime was also very low, hence a P50 would be a better candidate, with a weight difference of about 0.7Kg

Yes, it is a xxxxu CPU. But that is also in the P5xs models. But it is still a workstation grade laptop and the form factor was attractive to many users.

The chip of P5xs is not H series so they are not real WS
Better he goes with P51 or P52 inside budget.

Depends on if you want a full size workstation or a lightweight one, as I mentioned. But the P5xs models are certainly real workstations and they are fully capable of running GPU intensive software, such as AutoCad.
